Margot Robbie ("I, Tonya") has been chosen to portray "Barbie" in a new film dedicated to the iconic doll. The Australian actress will star in a film by Warner Studios in collaboration with the toy giant Mattel, which has been producing the doll since 1959. "Playing with Barbie dolls promotes confidence, curiosity and communication on the way to the child's self-discovery," Ruby said in a press statement. "For almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered girls so that they can think of themselves as princesses or presidents. I am proud to play and be a partner in the production of this film and I am sure it will have a positive effect on the children of the world and other viewers."
